Shîrudo technology

Unparalleled flexibility and easy compliance out of the box

Which standards regulate F-gas safety?

Two standards are applied to cover the safety regulations of refrigerants:

  • Flammability (1, 2L, 2, 3): covered by the specific heat pump standard IEC60335-2-40 (Ed. 6) as it prevails over EN378:2016
  • Toxicity (A or B): covered by the generic standard on refrigerants EN378:2016.

Limitations for flammability of A2L refrigerants are stricter than the ones for toxicity, so Shîrudo Technology focuses on offering maximum flexibility within the IEC60335-2-40 (Ed.6) requirements.

Peace of Mind

With Shîrudo Technology, Daikin ensures compliance to the product standard IEC60335-2-40 (Ed. 6) for indoor units. With factory-integrated refrigerant control measures, these systems are also the quickest and most flexible to design

There is no need for complex and time consuming calculations, even for small room applications.

How Shîrudo Technology works

Shîrudo Technology integrates refrigerant control measures from the factory, meaning the VRV 5 system is equipped with sensors, shut off valves, and an alarm, which are third party CB certificatied by a notified body (SGS CEBEC).

Integrated sensors to detect refrigerant leak

  • Integrated in every indoor unit
  • Self-monitoring, detects even the smallest refrigerant leak
  • Automatically activates refrigerant response measures: an alarm and shut off valves
Integrated alarm illustration

Integrated alarm

  • Local visual and audible alarm integrated in Madoka wired remote control
  • An additional supervisor alarm can be integrated via:
    • A field setting on the Madoka controller
    • An input signal that triggers a 3rd party alarm
Integrated shut-off valves illustration

Integrated shut-off valves

VRV 5 Heat Recovery

  • Shut off valves are integrated in the BSSV box
  • The valves of the affected refrigerant branch are closed, containing the leak
  • The rest of the system remains in operation

VRV 5 S-series

  • Shut off valves are integrated in the outdoor unit
  • Refrigerant is automatically recovered to the outdoor unit
  • After recovery shut off valves close and the refrigerant is safely contained
